Although Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club is a hangout spot for whose who in hip-hop, it also seems to be the place where a crime has been committed. Even though details have not fully been released, a spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office report that a rape occurred in the unisex bathrooms on Wednesday December 10th at 12.45 am.
Twenty-two year old Mario Valenzuela has been arrested and charged with first-degree rape. Mario Valenzuela is being accused of following a woman into the bathroom and forcing her to have sexual intercourse with him. He was later arrested in the 40/40 Club. An investigation is still underway, though no comment has yet been given by Jay-Z or the club reps. The 40/40 Club official grand opening happen on June 18th.
