Lil Wayne has filed suit against Quincy Jones III for violating copyright by using his music in the 2009 documentary The Carter.
According to TMZ, Quincy used the songs “Lollipop,” “Let the Beat Build,” “A Mill and “Dontgetit” from Weezy’s platinum album Tha Carter III without permission. He claims that Jones and QD3 producers didn’t bother to ask for approval in using the tracks.
Wayne initially was on board with the documentary, allowing the cameras to follow him around. But he then sued over the film for its “scandalous portrayal” of him and was later countersued.
The Young Money captain is suing for unspecified damages and an order prohibiting producers from using his music.
