From rapping to acting, Mos Def has successfully made the switch to become one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood. Mos Def has recently signed up to star in “Something the Lord Made” the HBO true story of heart surgery pioneers Alfred Blalock and Vivien Thomas.

The movie tells the story of Vivien Thomas’s dreams of medical school fell through in 1929 when he lost his scholarship and became a lab technician. Working along side Blalock at John Hopkins University the two became friends and made several breakthroughs in cardiac surgery, including blood transfusions that saved millions of lives during World War II. Mos Def will also be starring in the upcoming movies “The Sky is Green”, “A Confederacy of Dunces” and “The Woodsman” with Damon Dash on the producing end of that.
