Troubled Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ol’ Dirty Bastard (born Russell Jones) has three weeks to decide whether to accept a plea that would send him to prison for up to four years, reports the New York Daily News.

If ODB rejects the offer of a two-to-four year sentence, the rapper risks being sent to jail for up to eight years on drug possession charges stemming from his July 1999 arrest in Queens, New York, where the rapper was allegedly caught with 20 vials of crack-cocaine and marijuana.

Queens Assistant District Attorney Ken Holder told Supreme Court Justice Joseph Grosso last week that he intends to file bail-jumping charges before a grand jury in the next two to three weeks. As we previously reported, ODB fled the Pasadena, California-based Impact drug treatment center last October and was arrested as a fugitive in the parking lot of a South Philadelphia McDonald’s in November.

If ODB is found guilty of the bail-jumping charges in New York, he will have to serve jail time in addition to any time he might serve for his New York criminal drug charges. ODB also faces three years and eight months in prison for violating the terms of his California plea deal. The troubled rapper, who has gained several pounds, could serve up to five years in New York before he serves any remaining prison time in California.

Meanwhile, Defense Attorney Peter Frankel said ODB is not holding up very well. “His mental health is bad,” Frankel told the Daily News. “He’s trying to get some mental health counseling, and trying to get some spiritual counseling.”
