After reporting that “The Black Album” will be his last, Jay-Z has chosen November 28th, black Friday as his nationwide release date. Def Jam President, Kevin Liles told Billboard, “We wanted to try something different. Everything (related to the project) is black, so we figured, ‘Why don’t we put it out on Black Friday?’ It’s one of the biggest selling days of the year, and it’s the day after Thanksgiving. So it’s Jay’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to fans for them giving him so much.”
Along with the album, hip-hop heads who love Shawn Carter can expect to shell out money for more than just an album. A new S.Carter sneaker is slated to hit stores during the same week, an autobiography titled “The Black Book” from MTV Books, and a nationwide tour sponsored by Clear Channel. Although tracks and producers on the album have not been revealed, Jay-Z originally planned to work with a different producer for each track. I just wanted to have all those different flavors,” Jay-Z said. “It was almost like a wish list of all the different people I wanted to work with before I go. Kanye West has said that he put in work on two tracks for the album titled “Encore” and Lucifer”.
After the album is released Jay plans to expand his clothing lines and get more involved with movies.
