After working hard in the movie business for the past several years, Queen Latifah is going back to her roots with the new multimedia deal she signed with Creative Battery Productions, AEG Live and Vector Recordings.

The new deal is for one album, a twenty city tour set for 2004, a television special and a video release. The album is scheduled to be released next summer according to Billboard and features a collection of classic songs produced by Arif Mardin. In a statement to the media Queen Latifah said, “For this album, I will choose songs that have shaped me artistically and affected me emotionally”. Jack Rovner, the co-founder of Vector Recordings said, “There are only a few artists out there with whom you can really create a true event. It’s a new world, and the music business is looking for new models.

This project could be deemed as one of those new models.” Though this project is going to take most of her time next year, Queen Latifah is working hard on her current film projects including “The Cookout” and “Taxi” and Jimmy Fallon.
