The opening statements in Lil Boosie’s murder trial for the death of Terry Boyd have begun.
According to The Advocate, prosecutors say that Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, hired a “young, gullible, cold-hearted hit man” named Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to murder Boyd in October 2009 after Hatch learned that he had been released from prison and was planning on doing him harm.
The defense countered those claims, stating that Hatch and Boyd’s sister conceived a child together and that there was no bad blood between them. Boosie’s lawyer, Jason Williams, noted that there was an old bullet found in Boyd’s body, using it as an example of how many people had “some ill will” towards Boyd. He also said that Boosie was only being targeted because he is a “high-profile rapper.”
