Taking time to recognize the re emerging sounds of the South, the September issue of The Source pays homage to the “New Kings” of the south. Leading the musical revolution of “Crunk” music, David Banner, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz and Bonecrusher talk about the struggle to survive in the south and what drives them to create music in the cover story “Native Sons”(pg. 150).

Lil Jon tells The Source one of the main ingredients of being successful. Banner, Bone, TI and I are all coming up together. We’re not going to let a major deal or selling lots of records stop us from doing stuff [together] or helping each other. We’re humble cats…We’re not on no ego trip”. OutKast also clock in time in this issue of The Source and talk about how they maintain their “Organized Confusion” while working on a double solo album release. With the album “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, Big Boi sees and instant OutKast hit. “Put ‘em together, they make this. But take ‘em apart? Damn, it’s still crazy!”

In this issue The Source also puts together some of Jamaica’s next big artists for a “Dancehall Rock” photo shoot and catalogs “151 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs” including “Rapper’s Delight”, “Paid In Full” and “Fight the Power”. Mya, Loon and the annual Fall Fashion Preview are also featured in this issue that’s on newsstands now.
