After months of negotiation, Star and Hot 97 in New York are over. WQHT also known as HOT 97 has officially ended their talks with Star as a co-host on the morning show. Discussions with Star have ceased,” New York PD Tracy Cloherty told ST Daily. “We had a great run with Star, but all good things must come to an end, and we’re now looking for that next great show”.
After being suspended again this past May, MTV’s Sway, who has previously worked in radio, has been filling in Star’s place. Cloherty says they are now looking for someone to fill in that open position. “I’m looking for out-of-the-box personalities — radio announcers need not apply”, she said. But those that hope to take that position need to know that the veteran Sway is in the running for the position. “He’s done a phenomenal job, too”.
