Jumping into the major league of joint venture record labels, Break ‘Em Off Records will have a head start on the competition with their new label deal with Def Jam South Records.
Dan Brown, the CEO of Break ‘Em Off Records is already experiencing huge success with breakout artist Bonecrusher riding high the charts with his new hit “Never Scared”. With the linking of this new deal, Brown sees a major door opening for him to expand into many different areas in music. “I’m very happy about the deal, very happy to be working with Kevin Liles because he truly understands business”, Dan Brown said. “He has the same goal that I have: to make Break Em Off a major player in the south and beyond”.
As for Def Jam, Senior Vice President of A&R at Def Jam/Def Soul, Tina Davis is also excited about the new venture between the two companies. “His work with Bonecrusher was what we are looking for in our partners. We want our partners to work hard and want it more than us. We are really about vibe and we try to make sure that our chemistry works right. When we had our first meeting with them we respected their ideas and their thoughts. Kevin Liles pressed me to make sure we followed through”. Currently Brown is working on album releases from Beezel in October, Young Hawk in December and Lady Ice in February.
