After doing separate solo projects for several years, A Tribe Called Quest had finally stepped back inside a studio to begin working on tracks for their new album. But the hope that maybe the new album will be hitting the streets within the next couple of months has now been put on hold.

According to Billboard the group (which includes Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Phife Dawg have now put the album in progress on hold until they get their business straight. One of the issues that need to be worked out is the group’s contract with their label Jive Records that has not yet been reached in agreement about. On the solo side, Q-Tip is working on another solo album to be released next year on Dreamworks Records.

Q-Tip’s last album “Amplified” produced such hits as Vibrant Thing” and “Breathe and Stop”. Currently “Hits, Rarities & Remixes” a compilation album that Jive put together is in stores now.
