In addition to announcing the team’s new name as Brooklyn Nets, Jay-Z will headline a series of shows at Brooklyn, New York’s new arena that opens next fall.
According to NYDN, Hov, who’s a part-owner in the basketball team, will perform the shows at the Barclays Center, which will open on September 28, 2012. Sources say that Beyonce, who will have given birth to their first child, will appear at one of the shows, while special performers will grace the stage at others.
The Brooklyn, New York rapper will appear this morning with developer Bruce Ratner and Borough President Marty Markowitz to announce the details of the shows at the Prospect Heights construction site.
“I’m going to open the building with a couple of concerts… maybe like eight,” he told MyFoxNY, also explaining the name change. “You know what it is, it’s deep love. Biggie had a line ‘spread love that’s the Brooklyn way. It’s a deep love we have for our heroes. We walk around with that.”
