Throw out your “Free Keith Murray” t-shirts, because the prison system has done just that. Murray was just released from a Connetticut halfway house after serving three years for assault.
The rapper, who had a few solo albums with Jive and has appeared as a member of Erick Sermon’s Def Squad, was sentenced to three years in 1998 of hitting a man over the head in a 1995 bar brawl. Murray has always maintained his innocence, but dropped a case for a new trial in exchange for a three-month cut in his sentence.
Murray is now signed to Def Jam, and has discovered that the most beautifullest thing in the world is freedom.
