While in Toronto plugging his upcoming free album “Best Day Ever,” Mac Miller briefly spoke about his Jewish heritage. While the Pittsburgh emcee corrected a rumor that he was both Amish and Jewish, he did explain how he, like many other fans and artists, balanced both his heritage and his musical leanings.

“I’m raised Jewish; I had a Bar Mitzvah,” Mac explained to ShalomLife.com. “I celebrate the high holidays. That’s like my family…like how I was raised.”

In addition to shouting out the Yamim Nora’im, Mac Miller had some fun at a reference to Drake’s playful claim that he was “the best Jew in the Rap game.” Mac referred to himself as “the coolest Jewish rapper,” and joked about the chances of ending up on a track with Drake.

“Yeah man, of course…Drake’s the shit,” Mac said. “We could make a Hanukkah song. Get it? ‘Cause we’re both Jewish.”

One thing Drizzy and Mac don’t apparently share is their choice in Bar Mitzvah music. Drake opted for the more traditional approach of a band—featuring the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” as the song of the night. For his part, Mac Miller said he went with a rapping deejay for his celebration.
