Legendary lyricist Grand Daddy I.U. released his Valentine’s Day-themed track “The One” on Monday. The former Cold Chillin’ Recording emcee describes the song, which he also produced, as a dedication track “to help communicate to that special someone on the number one day of love.”

“The One” is available at granddaddyiu.bandcamp.com.

In other news, multimedia entertainment company Aria recently published its first book, Hip Hop: A Cultural Odyssey. The 16-pound monster is 420 pages, and includes several essays, images from the golden era of Hip Hop music, and interviews with a range of artists like Fab 5 Freddy, Afrika Bambaataa, Method Man, Prince, Talib Kweli, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Big Daddy Kane, and many others.

The anthology also takes a page from Ego Trip’s Book of Rap Lists, pulling together some of its own lists of top singles and albums since the beginning of Hip Hop. Of course, with all good things come a price, and in this case, quite a hefty one; A Cultural Oddyssey is priced at $300 and seems confident that its wealth of Hip Hop knowledge will attract lovers of the culture.

Lastly, the RapRocks! concert will be held this Thursday, February 17 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York. The event will include performances by The White House Band, Roxy Cottontail, The Upperclassmen, Click Clack Boom, and Lil Friday. RapRocks! will open doors at 7 P.M. and charges $15 at the door. Tickets will also be available on Ticketmaster.
