If you live in Baltimore, Philadelphia or New Jersey, I am sure Homegirls, Homeboys and Chumpies potato chips are nothing new to you, but very soon hip-hop will become one with the potato chip.
Hip-hop artists such as Lil Romeo, Master P, Bell Biv Devoe, Mack 10, Warren G, Big Tymers and Mr. Cheeks have all signed to King Potato Chip to be used as advertisement on the front of the potato chip bag. The potato chip bags will be used in the urban community to better promote the many flavors of the potato chips. “Potato chips aren’t exactly ethnic, but it’s the way you package them and present them and the flavors that makes them different. Everybody eats chips, so you might as well eat the ones that appeal to your eyes and psyche,” Glenn Weber, the owner of King’s Potato Chips informed the Associated Press.
Several of the flavors are Salsa Cheese, Sweeties and Back at the Ranch. This cross promotional plan is not only planning to benefit King Potato Chip Company but get each artist more advertising recognition. The company also plans to expand the selling of the potato chips to other states in the country.
