Hip Hop fans who hear the term Step Brothers may instantly think of the Evidence and Alchemist duo. After all, the two dubbed themselves Step Brother for their collaborative work and we’ve been promised a project by the team. However, it seems actors Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly have something to say about that. The two comics released a film titled Step Brothers in 2008 and may be planning to drop a Hip Hop album with the Step Brothers theme soon.

Whether or not the album has any legs is still a question. So far, there hasn’t been an official word from either actor. However, writer/director Adam McKay recently announced that this album will come to fruition and that it is not simply a joke. He also went as far as to note that a “big” producer is on board.

As one can see from the Twitter updates, McKay is also asking Mos Def for a guest appearance. With no official word however, it’s hard to say what the album will end up being and how fans will eventually hear it. Some have speculated that the “album” may become a parody video on their popular Funnyordie.com website.

It should also be noted that Alc and Ev acknowledged that their group name was inspired by the actors in an interview with DX back in ’08.
