In another unsolved shooting in the world of hip-hop, rap promoter 31 year-old Kenneth Walker was gunned down in the Bronx, NY while sitting in a yellow van three days after the killing of Jam Master Jay. Although police are not sure if there is a link between the two killings, but are investigating that as a possibility.

We are looking into possible connections or whether this was a coincidence,” said New York Police Sgt. Kevin Hayes. Kenneth Walker, who was known to wear expensive jewelry that has not been found, was sitting in a van outside the Key Skate Center at 3 am when nearby police heard gunfire and arrived at the scene to find Walker slumped over in the driver’s seat. Police offered newly signed Aftermath artist 50 Cent also known as Curtis Jackson, protection after it was realized that Jam Master Jay had produced a track for 50 Cent’s new album, as well as Walker promoting 50 Cents material (It was found in the van the night he died).

50 Cent declined the offer of protection although he canceled a concert scheduled for the next night. The New York Daily News stated, “Detectives are investigating whether other rappers felt insulted by a song on 50 Cent’s latest record, which was produced by Jam Master Jay”.
