Already a successful radio personality in New York City at Hot 97, Angie Martinez was really excited about being asked to be a fourth judge in last season’s popular television show ‘American Idol’.
That excitement must have ended after two days of judging rehearsals in New York. Last week, Angie Martinez quit her job as a judge for the show citing the fact that it was hard to let down some of the contestants. “Being asked to joining ‘American Idol’ as their newest panelist was an honor. However, after judging the first few auditions, I’ve decided to leave the show because it became too uncomfortable for me to tell someone else to give up on their dream, especially when I realized that many of them have supported my career”, Angie Martinez said in a statement to the media.
When asked about the often harsh judge Simon Cowell, Angie said, “The truth is that the music business is mean and honest and brutal. So if you don’t have somebody like that on the panel, then you’re not doing a good service. ‘Cause then you go out into the real world and the music business and you’re in for a surprise.”
