Helping to re-inspire the lacking true hip-hop shows on television “Hip-Hop Nation: Notes from the Underground” is expanding their television coverage as November 1, 2002.
Hip-Hop Nation focuses on the grassroots style of hip-hop as a lifestyle and culture on every level (including underground). The new fifty-two episode deal will expand the once local television program to one hundred stations in the US. The difference between Hip-Hop Nation and a lot of the current programming is the in-depth type of interviewing the show gives the viewers.
President& CEO of Zoom Culture (who produce the show), Matty Lafferty said in a statement to the media, “Hip-Hop Nation’s ratings performance was stellar during its market trial with NBC O&Os, and we are thrilled with the acceptance it has received among television stations nationally for its new season. The show has a large and rapidly growing young-adult audience and we can’t wait for the rest of the nation to see it.”
Some of the celebrities that have been featured on Hip-Hop Nation already are Nelly, N.E.R.D., Ludacris, Eve, Master P, Russell Simmons, Naughty by Nature, Mobb Deep, Blackalicious, Spearhead, Timbaland, Ice Cube and Erykah Badu. Zoom Culture presenting sponsors are Universal Records but are still taking in sponsors. (Contact www.zc.tv) Check your local listings for “Hip-Hop Nation” coming to your television soon.
