Kanye West recently chopped it up with Minneapolis’s 101.3 KDWB about his upcoming fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Dream. The Chicago emcee revealed that recording for his highly anticipated release, which is set for a November 22 release – actually began on New Year’s Day, although the beats for “So Appalled” and “Hell of a Life” were leftovers from prior work.

“This is like now a year in the making,” he said. “[The recording process] really started on January 1 and really getting into it, but I had a few of the tracks before, and then I went into the studio on ‘So Appalled’ and ‘Hell of a Life’, we had the beats and we were just trying to come up with ideas for it…we always have some extra [tracks] left over…’Homecoming’ was a left over track from Late Registration.”
