Following what seems to have been months of pregnancy rumors singer Mariah Carey has finally confirmed that she is in fact pregnant with her first child with husband Nick Cannon. The singer revealed the news during an interview with Access Hollywood.

“Yes, we are pregnant — this is true,” Carey explained while on the show. “It’s been a long journey, but it’s been tough because I’ve been trying to have, like I said, to hold onto a shred of privacy, and that was not easy.”

Carey’s announcement comes shortly after what may have been a slip up from actress Thandie Newton during this week’s episode of The View. While on The View Newton shared that she was replacing Mariah Carey in the film For Colored Girls because the singer was pregnant.

During her interview with Access Hollywood Carey also spoke on her miscarriage sharing that the unfortunate event brought her and husband Cannon closer together.

“It definitely brought us together, it strengthened our relationship,” said Carey.

Both Carey and Cannon were married in 2008 and renewed their vows recently during a two-year-anniversary ceremony in May.
