All hail the queen! Queen Latifah (also known as Dana Owens) came in the hip-hop game informing people “Ladies First” and she is still reigning supreme. From running a company,writing books, movies to music, Queen Latifah has done it all. Now she can add television star to her resume, again. Queen Latifah has signed on to star in a television mystery show as the character Mali Anderson. As Mali Anderson, Latifah will help solve murders as well as get an education (a modern day “Murder She Wrote”).

Bender Brown Productions (who is co-producing the show) told the Hollywood Reporter, “We look at this as an opportunity to do an extraordinary television series with an extraordinary, unique talent in Queen Latifah, who has such broad appeal because of her acting and her music”. Latifah is also working with her business partner Shakim to run Flava Unit Records, having dropped the crew’s first singe “100% Haterproof”. Queen Latifah can also be seen in the new movie “Brown Sugar” on October 11th.
