Live Nation has gone down under. Billboard.com revealed that the concert promotion giant recently launched an Australian affiliate to form Live Nation Australia.
As a result of this deal, U2’s upcoming 360 Tour just announced added dates to Australia this November. As an opening act, Jay-Z will provide his services. The added dates to the 360 Tour include Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium on November 25, then stops in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and the Perth’s Subiaco Oval on December 18.
Live Nation Australia officially opened on July 1 of this year. In related news, Jay-Z topped the Forbes’ “2010 Hip-Hop Cash Kings,” published last week.
interesting to see jay open for someone else, doesnt happen often, although i can understand under the circumstances…
i dont listen to U2, but they are truly big-time musicians, which is exactly why its so smart for jay to be part of something like this…years from now, jay will be remembered as a classic american recording artist, not just a rapper…it seems like he’s aware of this too, he controls his image tightly to keep himself high-profile…the only time you really hear about jay is when he makes a deal, does a tour, drops an album or starts a business venture…well, aside from other rappers little disses and stuff like that from time to time…
props to jay…im sure some folks will try and hate on the U2 angle, but this is a really good look for hip hop…
