With the enormous achievement of OutKast’s critically acclaimed, triple-platinum album Stankonia, the stage has finally been set for the long-awaited compilation project from the Atlanta-based duo’s longtime crew, the Dungeon Family.
The album will feature the whole Dungeon Family, from OutKast, Goodie Mob and Big Rube to Backbone, Cool Breeze and Witchdoctor. The bulk of the LP’s production will be handled by in-house crew Organized Noize, and the production outfit’s Rico Wade discussed the project during a recent interview at the Dungeon in Southwest Atlanta.
“We recorded most of the songs when OutKast, Goodie Mob, Backbone and everybody was on tour,” Wade said about the present status of the LP. “All the vocals wasn’t done, but now most of ’em are almost done. I gotta put a orchestra on one song, everybody gotta put their vocals on ‘Crooked Booty.’ We right there though. The single we go with ‘Six Minutes,’ it’s ready now. But if we change the single, it might be about two or three more weeks.”
The album, which will tentatively be called either First Family or Even in Darkness, should be in record stores by this August.
