In a video that was taped prior to DMX turning himself in to authorities this week, the rapper spoke directly to his fans about his plans to turn himself in, regaining the life he lost, and his relationship with God.

“I’m gonna turn myself in,” DMX explained. “I decided myself to do that. Me and my crew we came to the conclusion that that would be best. It’s something that happened like six years ago…I wanna get that over with. Cause that’s like one of the first steps in regaining everything that I lost.”

Towards the end of the video, which is a little under a minute long, DMX speaks on the positive impact God has had in his life.

“My relationship with God has gotten so much stronger,” DMX revealed. “It’s always been a good thing. He’s always had his hands on me. He’s always guided me. I just go where he wanted me to go. He always had me. Now that I’m actually listening and being obedient life is so much better.”

DMX will have to serve 90 days in prison due to a reckless driving charge dating back to 2002.
