Last month, Rap sensation Drake had a show at New York City’s South Street Seaport cancelled when more fans than expected showed, and security was insufficient for the congestion. The New York Posthas reported almost a month to the day after that event, Drake was unable to do another free show on July 16 due to the same concerns.
As part of ABC’s Good Morning America summer concert series, the Toronto Young Money rapper was set to perform for free in Central Park. However, after security demands could not be met, a performance from the Punk musical American Idiot will take the stage instead. An ABC spokesperson told The New York Post that while Drake was never officially booked, he was a hopeful for producers.
Released less than one month ago, Drake’s Thank Me Later is expected to reach platinum later this month.
