Marion “Suge” Knight and Kanye West were both present on Friday (June 18) for a hearing regarding a 2005 Miami Beach party where Knight was shot in the leg.
As previously reported, West hosted the party at the Shore Club before the MTV Video Music Awards. Knight has sued the Def Jam producer and the club, assrting there was not enough security provided.
“I figured I could sit him down, man to man, and get this resolved,” said Knight to the Associated Pressafter what appeared to be a frustrating six-hour, closed-door session in New York. “I’m disappointed.”
West said he was not involved in the security arrangements for the party, according to Knight’s lawyer, Marc Brumer. The Shore Club denies claims of negligence as well.

“My whole thing is: I’m not here to put nobody behind bars,” added Knight, who claims that West and the Shore Club should’ve been aware of the “dangerous environment” the party could produce, due to beefing rap stars.
“It’s time for more positive now,” concluded the once-powerful mogul, who was notorious for his strong-armed tactics in the music industry
Suge Knight is seeking more than $1 million in damages, but would be required to share it with a bankruptcy trustee and the IRS if successful.
