Veteran sports broadcaster Marv Albert is denying reports that he and50 Cent‘s entourage got into a physical altercation backstage during Wednesday night’s taping of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The reports surfaced when a Los Angeles Times writer, who was at the taping, described there being “a fist or two flying,” although he never mentioned Albert as being one of those involved.

According to reports, the show’s security prevented members of the rapper’s entourage from using a phone located in a room belonging to Albert, who was a guest on the show that night. Angry that they were prohibited from using the phone, the entourage, not recognizing Albert as a long-time sportscaster, allegedly threw blows at him. Albert said yesterday that not only are these rumors untrue, but they are quite upsetting.

“I couldn’t even tell you what the guy looked like or the security guys looked like,” Albert told the AssociatedPress. “They embellish. It keeps getting embellished more than anything else. What do you say, it’s just wrong.”

The broadcaster, who was in Los Angeles to call the Laker game the next night, said he even read reports that 50 punched him. “I don’t know what tomorrow will bring,” Albert said. “It will be Jimmy Kimmel got punched…I’m sure this will be funny to me in a couple of days. It’s not funny to me now, obviously.”

50′s camp has not yet responded to the rumors.
