Bay Area-based entertainment label Town Thizzness and SMC Recordings have reprised their partnership, with Town Thizzness increasing its roster size at the independent label.

The partnership will allow Town Thizzness artists such as J Stalin, D-Lo, Sleepy D and Philthy Rich a refined platform to promote their music, as well as releases. Both Stalin and D-Lo plan to drop projects this year, with Sleepy D looking at a 2010 release. Philthy Rich, who was featured in the Oakland edition of Gang Wars on the Discovery Channel, recently released his debut album Funk Or Die.

Town Thizzness CEO ChiokeStretchMcCoy explained the renewed collaboration comes from the fact that both companies are from the Bay Area, and subsequently wanted to showcase the areas rising starts. “Oakland has a lot of talent but not much of a platform to be heard.” He added, “I wanted Oakland’s story to be told by its own natives, because it’s been so misrepresented in the past.”

SMC Recordings co-founder Will Bronson shared the same sentiment, stating, “Town Thizzness is all about keeping its finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the streets of Oakland and delivering it raw and uncut.”
