Hip Hop Stands Up After 50 Cent Receives Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

50 Cent’s Instagram exploded with reactions to a photo of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The seasoned rapper/actor received the honor in Hollywood on Thursday (January 30) and quickly shared the moment with his 25.2 million Instagram followers.

“South Side on the map,” the Queens native wrote in the caption. “wait till they see how I run with this. Hahaha they never seen nothing like me before.”

Several of 50’s peers paid homage to the Power co-creator in the comment section, including Tech N9ne, Wiz Khalifa, Public Enemy’s DJ Lord, Lord Finesse, DJ Envy, Denaun, DJ Pooh, Planet Asia, Uncle Murda, Kid Ink, DJ Chuck Chillout, DJ Self and T.I.

“Man I’m so proud of you brotha!” Tech wrote. “You so high up that you can’t hear the hate from these niggas! Remember that! L9ve, T9!”

Tip added, “Congratulations King,” while Uncle Murda told him it was “#Welldeserved.”

During the ceremony, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said, “Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson is a man of many talents and star power. He has pursued many types of entertainment genres and done so with huge success. We are proud to add this talented and revered performer to our Walk of Fame family.”

Fiddy released his debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin, in 2003. Although he’s been more focused on his acting career in recent years, he pops up on a track every once in awhile. In August 2018, he collaborated with embattled rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, Casanova and Uncle Murda on the track “Get The Strap.”

Since then, he’s distanced himself from 6ix9ine who turned government informant shortly after his November 2018 arrest.

      1. nah im still waiting for that 50 centfire album. We all know he can drop a classic, but his mind seems not to be there. I don’t blame him, he makes a lot more with his businesses and other stuff aside from music

    1. French Montana, Ja Rule, Rick Ross, The Game, Teairra Marí,

      1. Don’t be so sure about that. Rick Ross actually has a following, and OGs like Nas are huge fans of his. I don’t understand it myself. The Game always annoyed me with his name dropping junk
.. I do like old Ja Rule though, I can’t lie! He may have been a phony, but the music was cool.

        1. Obviosly Yayo was there. Top Dawg was there. I just saw Alchemist was there too. Imagine a 50 and Alchemist EP.

    2. Maybe I’m in the minority but I don’t think he deserves it at all. His first album was good then he came out with candy shop nonsense….got rich and stopped trying. What has he done to warrant this over other black actors?

        1. Snoop is one of the biggest sellouts in hiphop history haha. He went from gangster rapper, to nickolodeon, to the self proclaimed reincarnation of Bob Marley, making songs called “no guns allowed” backing gun control, then back to making songs like “crip kill” and whatnot lol. His music legacy is trash now, and the only thing he has going for him is being the dopey fool narrating nature shows… I don’t find it funny at all, but I guess some do… Snoop was super dope from 92-98 though! 17 or more albums, 1 classic, and maybe 2 above average tops albums. The Blue Carpet Treatment did not age well at all… Most of his music aged terribly.

    3. I LOVE 50 Cents underground music.. M it’s some of the best gritty NY style gangster rap ever made… His mainstream music doesn’t do him justice, and his underground tops GRODT for the most part…. With that said, I don’t really think he should be getting a star on the walk of fame. 50 is honestly a really bad guy… Scummy jerk, who used to make nice music.

    4. I heard that u have to pay for your own star.. that it’s actually very easy to get a star on walk of fame..but most ppl don’t do it quick cus it expensive af..u have to pay for Ur own star and the ceremony and for it to be looked after for decades ? So having a star is kinda a silly publicity thing. But …. I’m not trying to hate. He does make great TV. Just saying the star thing is a lil silly. But he was wrong to stab empire in the back. Y couldn’t he stab a racist TV programme in the back? But I guess he only concerned with his money I guess. I guess that’s just fifty.

      1. NO it’s NOT ‘easy’ to GET A STAR on the HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME. But Once Nominated & Put Up for a Long Process and Vote, Sponsors must sponsor the Construction of the STAR in the BLVD (about $8k) – no Recipients Don’t ‘Pay for Their OWN Star’, but Hollywood Chamber of Commerce doesn’t put up hundreds of thousands of dollars ever year to construct everything.Only 3 Rappers have EVER GOTTEN a STAR; SNOOP DOGG, RUN-DMC and CYPRESS HILL.

    5. I liked 50 back in the day, early to mid 2000s but cmon, he doesn’t deserve a star on the damn walk of fame alongside real legends and icons for his music… smh
