Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 3/27/2011

R&B/Pop took over the charts this week. Jive Records superstar Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E. entered at #1. The work features emcees such as Ludacris, Lil Wayne and Young Money’s Tyga. Brown beat out #2, Jennifer Hudson, by over 100,000 units sold.

Bobby V (f/k/a Bobby Valentino), a onetime member of Ludacris’ DTP Records, released his Fly On The Wall album. The EMI Records-backed project features G-Unit’s 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks, as well as another EMI Hip Hop label-mate in Twista.

Lupe Fiasco still held a Top 10 position. The Chicago, Illinois emcee may have had his share of disagreements with Atlantic Records over the content and direction of his third album, Lasers, however the work is fast approaching 300,000 units sold. Lupe’s album features label-mate Trey Songz and longtime 1st & 15th singer Sarah Green.

For the first week, Floetry alum Marsha Ambrosious‘ long-delayed solo debut slipped out of Top 10 rankings. The songstress is widely known in Hip Hop for her tenure as an artist at Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment, as well as her feature work with Game, Slum Village and Busta Rhymes. Meanwhile, staying comfortably at #17 for another week, Rihanna’s Loud  pushes well past platinum.

      1. what you picking on sheek for. that album sucked that is true, but fuck off, there is ten times worse artists and music coming out than d-block shit. and fuck you i bought both w.a.r. and donnie g im no lazy bitch fan (jussayin…)

      2. compare it to a duck down release at least. that would make sense and make your words somewhat credible.

for instance: i bet these first week monch sales are gonna be higher than smif n wessun and pete rock’s album that comes out in may.

    1. Chris Brown 270,000? Robin Roberts must have felt guilty and bought every copy. Decent numbers for Zone 6 and W.A.R.

    2. If you’re an aspiring artist, poet, producer, or you think you can battle, come check out ILLESTLYRICS COM — hit up the forum and make yourself a screen name. We also got up to the minute news, downloads, interviews, mixtapes, tournaments, audio, cyphers, prizes, battles, discussions, champions belt holders, clothing, and so-so-so-so much more.

    3. sweeeet nicki minaj sht stopped selling.

and chris brown’s first week sales are higher than rihanna’s lol that should stir up the pot.

      1. yeah mane anyone who loses it during an interview and throws a chair into a window deserves good things

    4. i looked it up emenim did do 18,000 i ask agian who the hell is still buying recovery. they don`t even have single on radio does em have the touch or what

    5. Wtf is this? Gay albums top 10 who the fuck is buying this shit, I feel like hip hop is not about the streets anymore:S

      1. fuk the streets. the streets is why megatron just lost his life. why blks cant get ahead. why greats like pac and biggie are gone. i say again FUK the streets jus give me good entertainment. no matter how important it is to ppl when it all boils down this is all just entertainment anyway

    6. this is just for everyone thats celebrating ms minaj numbers not being posted…. she moved 22846 units this week outselling your favortie rapper. now tell em why you mad…

      1. i like lupe too but considering his album just came out him outselling her this week is not a big accomplishment. i mean her album has been out for a min now…

    7. Gucci 25k for a street album is whassup….wayne is at 827k for an album with “leftovers” is impressive. Wiz is gonna do 350+ watch!

    8. nicki sold 23,000 it is just not posted.btw that gives her close to 1,300,000 in in about 4 mounths to drakes 1,300,000 in 9 mounths and waynes 800,000 in 6 mounths universal propably sent out an email not to post her sales anymore. they dont want egos to get in the way ymcmb harmony lol

      1. You really think Wayne or Drake would get on this website to check out the numbers? For the people that this is one of their go-to websites, they’ll check out the numbers on here, but in no way does drake or wayne check the numbers out on here. Billboard.com is where theyll look. Explain to me why Eminems numbers aren’t up there? Did Interscope send an email to HHDX? No mam, they simply put out the numbers they want. Plus it’s always ten albums the put up.

By the way you keep spelling months wrong.

    9. good point tina. notice drake is not on the wayne and nickis tour hmmmmm… very interesting rubs my chin with a wicked grin.could a classic record lable implosion be on the way. we can only hope. lol

      1. It’s def a hot one, but the Nas/Black thought are the illest verses on there & by far the 2 best. I don’t think it’s as good as Pharoahe Monch’s W.A.R. or Cunnin Lynguists ONEIEROLOGY.

All 3 very good, the latter 2 GREAT….imho of course

      2. its not all that cuban linx 2 was better this was throw away songs from it rea even admited it.next one should be dope till then its big krit hoeeezzz

      3. No doubt these guys still keep real hip-hop alive.Damn, Raekwon is in the game from ’91 and still has relevancy.Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang baby! Cop that!

      1. Once again they left him off the list… He sold 20,000.. The only reason why I came to this website today was to check that out.. but they failed.

    10. no cunninlynguists? damn dude. granted the shit was like nowhere in stores but still, they didn’t even get a top 200??

      1. Very tragic if true, but I’d be shocked if this CLASSIC Hip Hop trio (when you include the “EMO PRIMO” sick producer KNO) didn’t sell AT LEAST 10,000 worldwide & 5,000 in the US.

This Album along w/ Monch’s W.A.R are both awesome. But I mean both always drop fire.

      2. I know, where the fuck is Cunninlynguists? Their album was the best I’ve heard in years. Oneirology was incredible. I pre ordered it and everything. Why aren’t they on the list? Much better than that pussy Chris Brown garbage.

    11. Pharoahe Monch’s W.A.R. album does not have production from Mr. Porter. He’s just featured as a vocalist. If DX actually bought the album and read the credits instead of downloading it for free, they would know this.

    12. i hope that nobody thats leaving comments are white, because white people shouldn’t have a right to say whats corny or whats not corny in hip hop or rap…… white people try so hard to act black.. i watch (malibu most) wanted movie everyday, the movie shows how stupid a white person looks when trying to act black, that movie is toooooooo funny lol lol lol lol… you got white boys walking round in the hood wit doo rags on saying (yo watt up son!!!!)trying hard to act black lol lol lol… you ever seen a white person try and dance black or act black (that shi!! is toooo funny) yo we was at the mall the other day and we saw this white boy with a red & yellow doo rag on wit grillz in his mouth buying (wave grease).. he was walking round calling people (doggy)… the black chicks was laughing they azz off…. get off our dic…. hip hop iz for blacks … we created it
