With last week’s album sales report bolstered by uncharacteristically high sales due to the holiday, this week’s numbers are back down to a more routine standard.
Nicki Minaj spent her third week straight at the runner-up position, thanks in part to more than 13 million album streams. Meanwhile, J. Cole fell to #7 but brought his total sales figure easily above 600,000 in the process. Finally, Iggy Azalea sold only 5,242 copies of her Reclassified album last week but pulled off another huge boost as a function of single song sales and streams.
Lower down the list, Fabolous fell from #12 to #20, D’Angelo’s Black Messiah sold more than 16,000 copies, and Eminem saw a pair of albums creep up the list.
Nicki Minaj Stays At #2 Third Week In A Row Despite 48% Dip In Sales
This week marks Nicki Minaj’s third consecutive week at #2 despite a sobering, post-holiday 48% dip in sales. After posting just over a hundred thousand sales last week, Minaj’s most recent 50,949 albums sold brings her total tally up 354,477. Still, thanks to the strongest stream activity on the charts with a count at more than 13 million, Minaj’s total activity count helped her barely beat out Ed Sheeran at #3.
J. Cole Falls To #7
Fresh off his recently passing the Gold album milestone last week, J. Cole put up another 47,625 album sales most recently. Cole’s recent number is less than half the 104,000 albums he sold the week before but brings his total count up to 624,348. Notably, Cole outsold three of the albums in the spots above him but saw his streaming count fall to just below 9 million.
Iggy Azalea Jumps To #16 From Streaming
Jumping from #67 to #16 in the span of a single week, Iggy Azalea’s Reclassified album is the most recent and obvious poster child for the power of streaming on Billboard’s new ranking system. Despite selling only 5,242 albums—more than 15,000 less than Fabolous at #20—Azalea’s more than 5 million album streams and collective 207,000 single song sales helped her climb into the Top 20.

This is horrible go back to the old format this shit doesn’t make any sense, nobody cares about streams that are not real numbers..I’m about done with your site all garbage anymore anyway
how is fabolous combined sales + streams less than his sales?
because Def Jam and Roc Nation buying hes album believe it or not but iTunes can be Fabricated.
eww, no one cares about the streams… Plus this shit is confusing.
I agree. I don’t even pay attention to streams. It’s good for the artists tho b/x it helps with selling concert tickets and touring revenue.
ALL I KNOW IS THAT
JCOLE= 600,000 PLUS, NICKI = 354,000 PLUS, IGGY = 5,400. LMAO!!!!
the important nbrs without streaming ….. JCOLE = 600,000+ / NICKI MINAJ= 354,000 + / IGGY AZAELIA = 5,200……
These nikkas just making up shit to protect these non-selling as artist. Helping names like Nicki, Ross, Wayne not look stupid and make fans believe that they are not falling off! Fuck out of here, all we want to see is record sales! Stop with all this malarkey!!!!
Congrats to the CURRENT QUEEN OF RAP. Y’all an spin it anyway y’all want…….
she is doing well considering current album sales ans considering what Iggy hasn”t been able to do.
She’s not, though. Flopprint.
this new album count shit is wack as fidduck, just give me the goddamn physical total amount
problem is that most people that are listening to the music are not buying the album. so total physical sales is not a good indicator of total popularity anymore.
so jermaine cole sold 8 million already??
dis shit confusing like a mf
That’s the streaming number I believe.
Remember when these articles use to get hundreds of comments in a day or two? HHDX should ask themselves what happened.
these are the last few days of album sales. in the future no one is going to even make albums anymore. it’s all just going to be based on youtube and spotify streams. platinum certificates will go out based on youtube views and spotify streams.
AKA no one will ever take Michael Jacksons record lol
WE NEEDED THIS 10 YEARS AGO. STREAMS WILL KI LL PIRATING BECAUSE IT’S WAY EASIER THAN DOWNLOADING AN ALBUM TO YOUR SMARTPH ONE. IT’S NOT A MATTER OF PRICE IT’S A MATTER OF WHICH IS MOST EFFICIENT.
THIS IS MORE EVID ENCE OF THE GENIUS OF ST EVE JOBS. WITHOUT THE PLATFORM OF THE MODERN SMARTPHONE WHICH HE INVENTED WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROGRESS IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.
Piracy is not about price. It’s about which is easiest. Streaming is way easier than pirating so it will kill pirating. Music indusrty needed this 10 years ago.
Ricky was at 108K last week and sold 8K this week so Hood Billionaire total would be 116K while ShadyXV at 236K with lil if any promo just one single a freestyle and that interview lol
nah Officer Ricky at #93 on the Billboard Chart sellig about 3K last week its rounded at 111K todate

what the fuck is wrong with all these numbers? GODDAMN DO SOME PROOF READING
this is disgusting how you conduct yourselves as a serious hip hop blog.
you say j cole is at 624,348 in your paragraph, but then on the list it says
#7. J. Cole – 2014 Forest Hills Drive – 59,484 (47,625) [8,966,914]
so did he sell 8 fucking million cds? CONGRATS COLE.
oh i see nicky sold #2. Nicki Minaj – The Pinkprint – 82,599 (50,949) [13,341,401]
13 million cds? DAMN why isn’t there a statue of her somewhere?
I think the last number is streams
umm.. you should read first. “A pure album sales figure is available in parenthesis and information about each album’s streaming count is available in brackets.” They only list how many albums were sold this past week. They don’t have a ‘toatal ablum sales’ listed anymore. The number in [000000] is total streaming content between albums and singls from the artist. It has nothing to do with how many was sold.
online streaming is now part of album sales
Ayo dx be dickriding Niki… They’re saying Niki had a stellar week with 13mil streams and in the same breath say J.Cole had a measly 9mil… FOH I’m done with dickriding DX
They need to just come up with a system to consolidate these numbers. Shit is extra…
#2. Nicki Minaj – The Pinkprint – 82,599 (50,949) [13,341,401]
