Hip Hop Album Sales: Drake, Beyonce & Kevin Gates

    Drake makes history by becoming the first male artist in 10 years to have an album at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart for five straight weeks. Beyonce continues her reign and Kevin Gates has two projects in the Top 20.

    Drake Don’t Stop

    Drake sold another 152,069 album units this week to bring his total sales to 1.9 million, according to Hits Daily Double. VIEWS sits at #1 for the fifth consecutive week, which surpasses Eminem’s Recovery. Slim Shady’s 2010 album reigned at the top position for five weeks upon its release in 2010.

    Beyonce Be Beyonce

    Beyonce’s LEMONADE lands at #3 in its sixth week. Queen Bey pushed 79,310 units. The project was streamed 8,652,574 times and is still a TIDAL exclusive.

    Kevin Gates Murders The Charts Again

    Kevin Gates follows up the commercial success of Islah with his Murder For Hire II EP. The second installment lands at #12 on the chart while Islah sits at #19 in its 18th week. Murder For Hire II sold 27,093 album equivalent units and was streamed 7,334,652 times.

    3. Lmao Beyonce pure has been outselling Drake since his 2nd week. Dude dropped pure from 800k to 130k. No superstar with a quality album experiences that big of a drop. Views was all HYPE. Def didn’t deliver.
