Hip Hop Album Sales: Beyoncé & JAY-Z’s “EVERYTHING IS LOVE” Debuts On Billboard 200

The Carters’ joint album, EVERYTHING IS LOVE, has made its first appearance on the Billboard 200, landing at #2. Meanwhile, XXXTENTATION’s projects jumped up the chart in the wake of his murder, and Nas, Christina Aguilera, and Jay Rock’s new projects all made their first appearances on the chart.

EVERYTHING IS LOVE Debuts At #2

The Carters have made their debut on the Billboard 200 this week with their joint album, EVERYTHING IS LOVE. While it still made a respectable showing at #2 — moving a total of 122,870 equivalent album units (69,695 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 73,239,130) — it was still kept out of the top spot by Australian pop band 5 Seconds of Summer.

EVERYTHING IS LOVE debuted lower than JAY-Z’s 4:44 album and Beyonce’s Lemonade album, both of which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The album’s lack of pre-promotion, Saturday release and brief exclusivity on TIDAL all impacted its first-week numbers — although Beyoncé already made clear how she felt about streaming numbers on the project.

Check out the review of the album (DX’s first 5/5 in years) here.

    XXXTENTATION Surges On The Chart

On Monday, June 18, XXXTENTATION was gunned down in Florida, and died at the age of 20. Just one week after his murder, his second studio album ? has spiked on the chart, placing firmly at #3 on the Billboard 200 with 93,820 equivalent album units (8,554 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 116,344,730).

The rapper’s debut album, 17, also saw a major increase, landing at #7 with 55,125 in equivalent album units (3,546 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 72,532,706). X’s Revenge project also currently sits at #30 on the Billboard 200.

All three of the projects saw surges of around 400% since last week.

Nas, Christina Aguilera & Jay Rock’s Albums Debut

The NYC legend’s latest album, NASIR, made its debut at #5 on the charts, earning Nas his 12th Top 10 album. His prior studio album, Life is Good, debuted at #1. Check out our review of NASIR here.

Christina Aguilera is back in the Top 10 with her latest studio offering, Liberation. The album, which features GoldLink, Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz, moved 68,176 in equivalent album units in its first week. Read DX’s review of Christina Aguilera’s Liberation here.

    1. Even with the sabotage from Jay and Kelis, Nasir still managed a respectable number. No ridiculous million dollar promo and all that. Lots of ppl still fuck with the king

    2. Nas last album was at #1 and now he’s at #5. Meaning his stans found out he was a woman beater and sided with Kanye’s Trump supporting ideas, so they abandoned him. The King and Queen have the #1 rap/hip hop album in the country right now. Nas lost. It’s the ROC!

        1. If the King and Queen flopped, then broke woman beater Nas flopped even harder. 122k vs 76k. Do the math. It’s the ROC, bitch!

          1. Your obsession with Nas is disgusting. You never post a comment where ur not salivating like a groupie reject about how Nas ain’t this or Nas ain’t that. I’m starting to think you’re one of his baby mothers

        2. It’s not spin, it came out on a Saturday and only on tidal for 3 days. Chill out, the woman said she didn’t care about streams on the album that you’re calling a flop, fool. They have their own streaming service and they own the rights to put out their music whenever and however but a clown like you will call it a flop not realizing that they just put that out to advertise lol.

          1. Nice try again F%ck Boy but it was on all streaming services by Monday on top of them hogging the Tidal main page and playlist once it dropped on Friday. They flopped and there’s no excuse for it but that they assume they could throw a mediocre piece of work out to the public to shade Nas on his release week. Kanye and Cudi sold more with half the buzz they had and no videos dropped. So save the excuse Stanley

      1. you are such a cornball. nobody gives a damn what you have to say all the time. is this all you do all day? troll. you are such a herb. What Jay-Z has done for you as a person? You probably still slaving at a job but your dumb ass will get on HipHopDX and try to clown people. You are such a loser. Trust me, you are a bonafide loser. Those are facts. LOSER!!!! Nothing better to do with your life except be on HipHopDX insulting people who like Nas. Give your self a handclap. Great accomplishment in life. Just a stupid herb in front of a smartphone/computer all day, waiting to clown people, while Jay and Nas are on yachts sipping champagne, laughing at people like you. Nobody likes you on here. Stop with the foolishness. You are such a child. And this site needs to have quality control. Too much cornballs on here, trying to represent hip hop. But 98 percent of people on here have no clue what it’s about.

    3. is hard to believe any numbers coming from satanic couple and theyr fixed wins

    4. Geeze jay z and Beyoncé debut at #2? I wouldn’t be surprised if Beyoncé leaves jay and makes her comeback with a heartbreak album next year. Y’all heard it here first folks.

    5. Bet Nas is pretty pissed about not having another #1 album. I know his stans are too. If it wasn’t for him being a woman beater, siding with Trump loving Kanye, King HOV and Queen BEY stealing the spotlight from him and Xxxtensioncord or whatever that kid’s name is dying in the same week, then he’d probably have a #1 album. Ah well, Nas lost again. Face it you broke stans. It’s the ROC!

    6. EVERYBODY ON THAT LIST FLOPPED! Let’s be real people nobody even buys rap albums anymore. I would juts release singles and do mix tapes and collab with other artists if I was a rapper. I want to see how many albums Drake sells when he comes out of hiding and releases Scorpion.

      1. You dumb lol. Streams > Album sales and they pay more… Wayyyyyyyyyyyy more. You literally dumb. Fuck album sales.

        1. You dumb lol. Streams Are Better Then Album sales and they pay more… Wayyyyyyyyyyyy more. You literally dumb. Fuck album sales.

    7. Kelis hit him first, and exchanged shot with him. She is not a pinata. Also by you assuming kelis got beat up indicates that you view her as weak. That would be misogynistic in the eyes of feminazi, lol.
