G-Eazy sat down with Larry King to discuss his own brand and the talk show host asks the Bay Area rapper about comparisons to Eminem. G-Eazy made the comparison himself on “Calm Youself” off his latest offering, When It’s Dark Out when he raps “Fuck it I’m the coldest white rapper in the game / Since the one with the bleached hair,” referring to when Eminem would dye his hair white blond.
“I don’t think anybody likes being compared to anybody,” G-Eazy says to King. “That’s beyond an honor, Eminem’s the greatest to ever do it, to be even put in a sentence.”
Besides being thankful for the compliment, G-Eazy says that people instinctively group rappers together, whether the artist likes it or not. Both G-Eazy and Eminem are White rappers in a culture that is predominantly Black.
“I don’t think anybody likes to be put in a box of any kind,” he says. “But the world needs boxes. The world needs categories. It just comes with the territory.”
King then asks the “Me, Myself and I” rapper wha sets him apart from other lyricists. G-Eazy details how rappers and listeners connect.
“It’s my story,” he says. “You take a record like ‘Everything Will Be Ok,’ I’ve experienced that. I went through that. So it’s like I can only tell my story. To use music as a place, as an outlet to express yourself, to go there is to let other people listening feel that too and identify with the music. I think that’s the power of it. As an artist, it’s your outlet, whether that’s pain, whether that’s your dreams, whether that’s your nightmares, whether that’s your triumphs or whatever, that’s your outlet. Then for the listener, it’s to connect with that artist in that story.”
Elsewhere in the interview, G-Eazy details buying his Rolex watch and helps Larry King pick a rap name.

This guy is a Drake wannabe. Only compared to Em because he’s white, that’s where it starts and ends.
Your ass is a Drake wanna be. This kid is much more better than Drake. Your bloody moms pussy
Coldes? This dude a white drake. Weak as hell
All these dudes hating on here. He’s more of a producer rapper, but he does his thing. You guys sound lame on here though. Not a great rapper but the beats are hard. If E-40 is cool with him, thats good enough for me
he’s dope , although he sounds so much like drake. first time I heard him rap, I thought it was drake on the mic. he’s got dope bars and rhymes beautifully too.
eminem is terrible and this lame is even worse. next!
Fuck you and fuck your opinion, what you listenin to? Cardi B? there is enough trash outside my house, but just enough room for you 😉
Serious question, why did all the white kids abandon Rock? It seems like all the white kids want to be Rappers now, instead of Rock n Roll artists like they used to. The genre of Rock n Roll is dead because of your lack of creativity. Now, they want to flood another black musical genre and water it down. It’s sad. Make one of the genres you created as a culture, popular. Make Polka music popular to the world. You can do it! You don’t always need to use our genres.
These white kids grew up in a world dominated by hip-hop culture..that’s not just white kids and its not only America. Your culture wasn’t stolen, it was shamelessly sold…cheap as fuck too. And just because rock no longer dominates pop radio does not mean it is dead, not even close. Shows the awareness ya’ll got outside your community.
All music is for everyone. FOH
Ok, boomer
2-3 kids in mah class still listen to that shit (when I say “shit”, I dont mean rock is bad)
hahahahaha stop gassing this man up. this n*gga doo doo
em is a rap god, who is this clown
…………………..Wtf is a g-eazy????
I fuck with G eazy, i wasn’t feeling him at first but he’s doin his thing and he seems like a down to earth genuine ass dude. i would kick it with this fool
I also f with G Eazy, he is so chill and in his own league, just like Eminem, who also has his own league.
G Eazy got that unique voice and he sticks on-beat with those great lyrics
He’s definetly no eminem, he no where near the skill level em has I listened to his last cd after 2 songs I turned it off. Em never gets turned off only turned up
If you’re white and somewhat relevant you will be compared to Eminem. Ask this guy, Asher Roth, or Mac Miller. Sad truth of hip hop
