French Montana On Donating $500K To Ugandan Health Clinic: “Healthcare Should Be A Right”

Shooting the video for “Unforgettable” with Swae Lee in Uganda last year was a transformative experience for French Montana.

Since then, the Moroccan rapper has been heavily involved with charitable efforts in his African homeland.

During a recent interview with CNN, French revealed he’s already donated $500,000 to the Suubi Center, an underfunded maternity and children’s health clinic in Uganda.

“Me coming from Morocco in North Africa, I feel like it should be a soft spot for anyone that has a mother or a child,” he said. “I think that’s got to be one of the worst things, not having the right healthcare. When I went to Uganda, I felt obligated to [help].

“I feel like every woman and child deserves the right healthcare. It shouldn’t be a privilege, it should be a right.”

Shortly after his first trip to Uganda, French kicked off the #Unforgettable Healthcare Campaign with Global Citizen’s #2BSTRONG Campaign and the United States-based non-profit organization Mama Hope.

French said he was moved by the Triple Ghetto Kids who appeared in the “Unforgettable” video. He believes they “dance better than Chris Brown.”

“They are like my sons, my daughters,” he said. “They’ve got a big spot in my heart … and I just feel proud of them. They killed it, they danced, they did the choreography.”

To further propel the movement along, he’s teamed up with Maroon 5 singer Adam Levin for the “Famous” remix, a song that was originally found on his 2017 Jungle Rules album.

French has decided to donate his royalties from the single to the Suubi Center as well.

The 33-year-old, who became a U.S. Citizen in June, says immigration will be a major theme on his upcoming album. The project is expected to arrive in the next six weeks. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

      1. His country? So Morocco is in Uganda? You idiot. Uganda isn’t his country or ugandans his people either.

        1. He is African from Morocco. Uganda is in Africa you fcktard so yes, hes been donating money to HIS country. The 2 people who gave you 2 thumbs up are morons just like you. Get off SNAPs and go to school…

      1. This is a ridiculous comment. Do you think only black people can go to the health clinic French Montana has donated to?

      1. It’s true black slavery still a big issue over there. Yet our kids in school aren’t taught about that, only about white people being the oppressors. Guess (((who))) is responsible for this brainwashing?

        1. Hey man you got your tiki torches ready? We’re all meeting downtown later. “They will not replace us!”

    1. Not a big fan of his music, but I respect him a lot for this. I’ve been to Uganda, and it was a transformative time in my life. Love it there

      1. You know the fucked up thing about bad living conditions in these countries could be solved if the same financial elite who use money created out of thin air to buy politicians and fund NGOs, revolutions and regime changes used that same money to help these people in Africa. But it’s all a part of the bigger plan – they make sure living conditions suck in Africa while they lobby for open borders in europe, to make sure all Africa migrates to europe. Have you heard about the Kalergi plan? It’s the plan for the genocide of white europeans. The financial elite wish to create a obedient, rootless, dumbed down slave race for them to rule over from lsrael.

        1. I got my white hood and robes. I’m ready for the next meeting! Where did you say it was again? You know we can’t have these minirities messing up ours

    2. Pretty sure French Montana didn’t give a dollar of his OWN money. That money coming out of his video budget or some shit. It’s the record label’s money not his. Just like when Drake was going around donating all that money it did NOT come out of his OWN pocket yall believe any ol’ thing you see on the internet smh!

      1. You know artists have to pay back the money from the label through record sales right? So it is still his money! But I wouldn’t expect a moron like you to know how the record industry works

    3. Healthcare is not a right. There is no such thing as a right that violates someone else’s rights. Free milk by force/violence of the law means free milk for a small aristocracy, and theft/enslavement for the masses.
You do have a right to a healthcare industry liberated from the violence of the State that creates artificial shortages through a legally enforced (AMA) trade union monopoly. Which would mean a healthcare industry free from a small, over educated, over paid set of medical professionals making six figures while regular people can barely afford to keep up.

    4. Count how many of the comments under this Positive Article are positive comments. That’s the problem. No matter what you do people will hate. It’s a good thing he or his label are trying to do. It might be 70-30 thing but damn it’s alot more than alot of celebrities do. This is why we can’t do anything good because when you try we’re always the first to tear ourselves down. This is dope whether you like his music or not. Y’all internet mfs are some weirdos man
