It was only a matter of time — hours after DJ Akademiks claimed Freddie Gibbs was “absolutely irrelevant” if Jeezy is, Gibbs and Aks started beefing on Twitter. Akademiks became a trending Twitter topic on Monday night (June 29) once Gibbs offered $5,000 to any woman willing to admit they actually slept with the Everyday Struggle co-host.
Aks quickly responded to Gibbs with, “Freddie…don’t play urself…u no even more successful more than me. Relax ur self kid. U underground. Don’t try to ever play me. If u really wanna try me…a BLOGGER. Let’s go.
“Bring all ur statements of how much you made as a rapper.. and I’ll bring up tax statements of what I made as a BLOGGER. and lets compare. U can’t compare to Jeezy…he been lit for mad years. U a lil nigga. and i Doubt u compare 2 me. But… Drop ur shit… I’m down. Mr Gibbs.

As Aks tried to convince Gibbs to share his tax returns and other proof of income, Gibbs told him to provide evidence he didn’t have oral sex with Tekashi 6ix9ine, Aks’ current BFF.

Perhaps taking a cue from Nick Cannon’s beef with Eminem, Aks then invited Gibbs to appear on Everyday Struggle. While Gibbs didn’t exactly say yes, he didn’t really say no either. Instead, he promised, “Imma squeeze yo titties on camera” before telling Aks he’s “built like a Teletubby.”
The whole back-and-forth kicked off not long after Gibbs called Jeezy “musically irrelevant.” Judging by Aks’ tweets, he felt it was his job to humble the Bandana MC.
“I can’t stand niggas who finally get luke warm after almost a decade and a half and start talking shit,” he said. “enjoy ya lil hot streak nigga… but dont get it twisted.. U JUST GOT ON. and u not no legend like JEEZY is.”

AK is right though. Freddie Gibbs is not anywhere as influential or as popular as Jeezy was at his peak. He is a better rapper though, Jeezy is known more for adlibs than bars.
To be fair, Had Jeezy hit the scene when Gibbs did, neither would he. He was one of the last artists who blew up when you still could push physical units if you had the right push behind you in that same era with Kanye, The Game, 50 Cent, etc., and he definitely had the machine behind him to make that happen. Who says that Gibbs wouldn’t have been doing those same numbers if he had put out the tight shit he did the last few years say from 2005 to 2008 or so when Jeezy was in his prime?
