Pras appeared in a Manhattan court for a child support hearing on Monday (March 9). According to Page Six, the former Fugees MC reportedly owes Angela Severiano — his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his 9-year-old son Landon — roughly $125,000.
In January, the Hip Hop vet was mandated by a court order to pay $20,000 of the outstanding debt and provide evidence of payment. Although he brought a tracking number showing he had a friend send the money, he was ultimately unable to prove it.
“If I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t say it happened,” Pras said to the judge to which the judge replied, “That’s not what I consider proof. You do not even know what day it was sent.”
Consequently, he was arrested immediately after the hearing for failure to make a payment. The New York City Department of Corrections shows Pras paid his bail and was released the same day.
Following the hearing, Pras’ lawyer Samuel Feldman said, “What can I say? He says he made the payment but he didn’t have enough proof to satisfy the judge. Hopefully, somebody will send me further documentation and then maybe I’ll advance the case.”
