Fat Joe has revealed that he fielded offers of up to $150,000 for his Louis Vuitton Nike Air Force 1 sneakers which were designed by Virgil Abloh, but ultimately decided to turn them all down.
The Terror Squad leader spoke about his decision on Instagram Live on Sunday (April 9), saying he turned down every offer because of the sentimental value of the shoe.

“I got offers of up to $150,000 for this one pair of sneakers,” Joe began. “Now, somebody offering you $150,000 for a pair of sneakers is almost like the devil is tap dancing, like the Sandman at the Apollo. If you gave me a gift, I could never sell a gift. It was a gift.”
He continued: “I don’t believe in selling it, but boy, is the temptation there. Somebody’s just dancing like this trying to give you 150 grand for a pair of sneakers that, by the way, you got for free.”

Fat Joe’s limited edition shoe was actually part of an Off-White collaboration he had planned with Virgil Abloh, but unfortunately, the revered designer passed away before the pair got to work on it.
“Virgil contacted me two days before he passed away,” he told Complex last year. “And he wanted to do a TS x Off-White Air Force 1. Virgil wanted to design it. Like you said, Me, Bobbito, [DJ Clark Kent] were the first ones — you could add Mayor to that. He wanted to do it, but unfortunately, he passed away two days later.”

Virgil Abloh passed away on November 28, 2021 following a private and lengthy battle with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
Fat Joe isn’t the only rap star who owns one of Abloh’s coveted designs. Lil Baby recently
showcased a new black and chrome vehicle named Maybach by Virgil Abloh, and expressed his excitement at owning the limited edition vehicle on Instagram.
The luxury ride, which was unveiled at a car show last December, is a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S680 model and was designed by Abloh in partnership with Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz’s chief design officer.
Per Dezeen, there will only be 152 units of the car available when they hit the market in April, and is designed similarly to a Maybach in that it’s “a two-tone solar-powered car with a transparent hood that was also designed together with Abloh.”

“As Project Maybach was a show car, we had complete creative freedom, allowing us to collaboratively concept what the future of electric travel could look like,” Wagener told Dezeen. “Due to production requirements, we had to take a different approach to the design of the Mercedes-Maybach limited-edition S-Class.”
Last year, Drake also showed off a different Virgil Maybach SUV in his “Sticky” video in support of his Honestly, Nevermind LP.
