Fat Joe Details Feeling Abandoned By Nas After Ending His Beef With Jay Z

Back in 2001 when Nas and Jay Z were enthralled in their Rap beef, Fat Joe sided with Nas resulting in tension between Terror Squad and Roc-A-Fella Records. But when the Jay Z-Nas beef was squashed between the two rappers, Fat Joe says he felt abandoned.

“When Nas caught beef with Jay Z, they threw the battery in my back,” the Bronx-bred rapper says in an interview with This Is 50. “Like, ‘We got beef with this man’ and I’m all muscle. So I’m like alright. And I’m moving a certain way and the moral to the story is that there was bad blood between Roc-A-Fella and Terror Squad for a long time and the next thing I know I seen Nas with Jay Z and there was peace. But it left me in the outskirts. He didn’t pick up the phone like, ‘Yo, I’m about to squash this.’ I would’ve told him go get money. I’m all about getting money, so I would’ve told him go get money. Now me and these niggas got beef because I was reppin’ you hard.”

Four years later, Jay Z and Nas ended up uniting on stage at the Continental Airlines Center in New Jersey. The pair also performed together.

Fat Joe says that now he and Jay are good but he does feel like the situation between himself and Nas could’ve been handled differently.

“I felt abandoned,” Fat Joe continues. “Like wow. I was frontin’ nine for a nigga.”

The full Fat Joe interview with This Is 50 is as follows:

    1. I remember when Nas and Jay became cool and Fat Joe was talking shit about it in interviews. I always wondered why he was so mad. 10 years later we know why. lol

    2. I’m the upper echelon, bullet rain showers on/anybody who puts a 16 to a song/I’m what’s wanted but outlawed show me an opponent/ left hook crushes your jaw, watch em dose off till the next mornin/ rhymes drop like Assad’s barrels, rap game purge/douse the house of hip hop in gasoline, videotapin the occupants burn

    3. In all the Joe’s interviews he ALWAYS talks like he’s ready to kill anyone and anything, but his squad hasn’t done shit when it comes to beef. I think soft ass Lil Durk is harder than this old fronter.

    4. Fuk fat Joe…how he have beef and he never dropped a rocafella diss track ? He never even dropped s rocca flea diss verse….He never put hands on or confronted anybody from roc…just because u don’t talk to somebody don’t mean it’s beef…beef is when u get busy…Joe is a herb.

      1. Shut the fuck up nigga, you sound and write ignorant. Joey Crack said he sided with Nas and there was some tension but never said there was beef with Jay.

      2. In all actuality Pun was the one who had
Jay z cornered in a building strapped up.Do your research, witnesses stated he was shook for his life.Theres interviews about that.Whoo kid gave a interview describing gangster shit involving TS.Joey Crack got connected in Miami with the work and blew the fuck up,had real beef in NY with competitors. The government had no evidence or conspiracy charges to trump on him considering his lavish lifestyle was backed as an entertainer. He did do a few months for IRS tax evasion, in my opinion a small price to pay to be free rich successful and not doing 25 with an L wouldn’t you agree? This separates real from fake.Nas is one of my favorites,Jay is one of my favorites but they are entertainers.Joe has history 50 has history, they will always get my vote over Nas or Jay

    5. Don Cartagena was my shit. Still is, was just listenin’ to it like a week ago. J.O.S.E. (Jealous Ones Still Envy) was still dope in my opinion.. especially “Definition of a Don” & “My Lifestyle”.. even the cheesy “What’s luv” with Ja & Ashanti was ok. Before Pun passed, back in the Terror Squad days (with the original lineup) they was fire.. Terror Squad’s “The Album”.. That’s my shit right there. But enough of me takin a trip down memory lane – Like Whitney Houston said: “(Joey) Crack is wack.” This man Joe so broke he even joined MarketAmerica on some pyramid scheme lol go to Youtube and search for “Invisible Train” its a promo event for MarketAmerica and Fat Joe is on stage talkin mad shit trying to trick a bunch of asian kids to give they money to MarketAmerica. It’s sad, but funny at the same time.

    6. On this week of “The shit Fat Joe comes up with”….

Listen I love Hip-Hop. But sometimes the slang gets way too out there for me to follow. Can somebody….explain to me what, my fuckin head hurts writing this, “I was frontin nine for a nigga” means? Back in my day (’05-’06 if you nasty) frontin meant givin product away for free till that broke motherfucker (*pause* lookin dead ass at you Andrew) paid you back within a week (lol who the fuck am I kidding?). And frontin nine wasn’t even an option.

      1. Meaning that he wasn’t the one beefing with Jay, he was frontin for Nas.
I would be mad to, it hurt the relationship that he could’ve had with other rappers because of this. There was already tension with Jay, because of the Pun incident, but not a real beef.

      2. Ok. Since Trollface opened it up… nine what? This is where a normal reporter would try to explain for a larger audience. Believe me I am a long-time rap fan. Been listening since The Fat Boys. But, like Trollface says, we all get lost in the slang, especially without context. DX, you gotta do better explaining Fat Joe. He’s saying some interesting shit here. But what is he really talking about? How would Fat Joe use his influence to “beef” with someone? wouldn’t he just write raps about it? Or did Fat Joe even ever rhyme about Nas and J? Would anyone care what he said, since he’s no where near as popular as either of them. I didn’t even know dude still rapped. But I loved that old Fat Joe album, Jealous Ones Envy. Fat Joe stands alone as a rapper, fuck what Nas and J think.

    7. Joe had Nas on his Joe Cartagena album so i know for a fact he was riding with Nas. not forgetting that Jay had beef with Pun and Joe before too.

    8. Fat Joe salty cause Jay shut that shit down… Meaning Terror Squad. One minute they hot tthen the next minute 15 years pass and he’s doing interviews about 15 years ago. Meanwhile Nas & Jigga still doing their thing!

    9. Shut the the fuck up this dipshits always stopping beefs or something or helping 2 guys beefing sort it out stop focusing on beefs and do your job
