Eminem’s “Killshot” Marks YouTube’s Biggest Hip Hop Video Debut Ever

Eminem has set another record, according to Billboard. With 38.1 million views in its first 24 hours, Slim Shady’s “Killshot” marks YouTube’s biggest Hip Hop video debut and its third biggest overall debut in the platform’s history.

As most Hip Hop fans are aware, “Killshot” serves as Em’s response to Machine Gun Kelly’s “Rap Devil” diss track. The back-and-forth kicked off earlier this month when Em dropped his 10th studio album Kamikaze.

On “Not Alike” featuring Royce Da 5’9, Shady sent a shot in MGK’s direction, something the lanky rapper initially celebrated with a bottle of champagne. But, after marinating on it for a few days, he came back with “Rap Devil.”

During a recent interview with Sway Calloway, Em was on the fence on whether he’d respond to MGK. Consequently, “Killshot” came as a welcomed surprise to his fans.

Since its release, MGK has been flaunting the single’s cover art at his concerts. At a show in Orlando earlier this week, he allegedly tricked an entire crowd into participating in his anti-Eminem campaign while wearing a “Killshot” t-shirt. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

    1. Bruh all you dum as hell bruh. Eminem is only the goat cuz he white. No black person ever fuck with dude. If he was black he would be suck. The only reason he good is cause his skin he also only sell records cuz that. White peeple are so bad for rap culture. And the white fans to. They all favor white rappers with no content. Fkin bums. Text my the addy if you want smoke. Dum ases. I rest my cas.e.

      1. Are you friggin’ serious??! Eminem is respected by the greats in hip-hop. It has nothing to do with his skin colour. That certainly helps sales, but he’s technically superior to most rappers out. Are you sure you’ve listened to his stuff?

In this particular case, MGK is white too, so an apples to apples comparison is possible, except he’s way out of MGK’s league.

        1. Spoken like someone that doesn’t know shit about lyricism, the artform and wordplay. Spoken like a salty ass racist that can’t cope with a white dude being a first rate lyricist. Funny, Rakim said that if Em were black he’d be Muhammad Ali…..but I guess he’s as much of an authority on hip hop as some bum ass illiterate fuck talking garbage in the comment section of a website.

      2. If this were true, then why don’t other white rappers sell like Em.

Without being embraced by the black community, Em would never have gotten this big. Hell, he was discovered battle rapping.

    2. MGK is 29 man, he young enough to know social media wasnt going to let him get away with that lie. I seen the video from that concert, the whole crowd was boo’ing when he did his Em diss. That L has gotta burn lol

    3. @you all suck if your reading is as on point as your writing is then I don’t think you could understand the address if they told u. The fuck outta here.

            1. Are you kidding? Drake breaks like 10 records a year. I’ve only seen a few times where Em has broken records (this one, the one for “Rap God” and being the only rapper with two diamond albums were the only ones I’ve seen).

      1. It’s only a bunch of rhymes if you’re too stupid to not catch the methaphors. Here, I’ll help you out with the first few bars, just because thats the kind of guy I am.

“Damn, I’m really sorry you want me to have a heart attack
Was watchin’ 8 Mile on my NordicTrack
Realized I forgot to call you back
Here’s that autograph for your daughter, I wrote it on a Starter cap”

The reason he starts it off like this, is because in this record, MGK is Stan, and do you know what happened to Stan at the end? He dies.
Do you know who gets blamed for Stan’s death? Eminem.

Hence, Killshot. Right from the beginning em was telling us, MGK was going to die by the time the record ended.

I know, one of the most obvious metaphors, but you’re stupid ass couldn’t even see that one. Went right over your head.

    4. It’s been over 24 hrs now where is mgks response? Shouldn’t people be hating on him for that, like isn’t that the rule or something? Lol. People are the worst

    5. Back by popular demand, Now pop a little Zantac or ant’-acid if you can. You’re ready to tackle any task that is at hand. How does it feel, is it fantastic, is it grand?

      1. “we made you” is literally the worst song ever recorded by any artist of any genre at any point in the history of the world. I don’t mean that figuratively, I mean LITERALLY, the WOAT song ever. Whoever thought that song was good enough to release to the public, as a lead single for a major label’s flagship artist nonetheless, deserves a public execution in most humiliating way one could possibly conceive. Also, that was NOT Jessica Simpson on the chorus.

          1. Fack was amazing because at no point was that supposed to be serious.. The other 2, he really thought were hits, which is delusional.

          2. Fack is so damn amusing that it’s not even in the discussion for the worst song ever. It’s a good, funny song. Don’t take everything so damn seriously. We Made You… Didn’t really care about that song back then, still don’t. I’ve heard a ton of worse songs, though. Most of them are metal, even though that genre has good stuff too.

    6. Am I the only one who thinks “killshot” blows? I get that the technicality in his lyricism and rhyme schemes is lightyears beyond MGK’s, but that doesn’t necessarily make the song better. I still say “Rap Devil” was the more entertaining song and had more venomous allegations/attacks made. Whatever, that’s my opinion, I know I’m in the minority (here come the twats saying “you must be twelve, learn about real hip hop”,… Sigh)

      1. Not a diss, but check out on Genius.com the Killshot liner notes. There’s a lot that gets lost without further searching.

      2. Yeah, I think your the only one. Would anyone have said anything about MGK dissing anyone if it wasn’t aimed at Em?!?! And for the record, I’m 12 x 3 + 1. Lol

      3. Making serious allegations doesn’t make for a better diss song. At the end of the day it’s heresay.

Diss songs are about clowning people. MGK got called a Stan, got his claim of being a younger Em destroyed, got compared to Lil Tay, got exposed as a bitter rebound guy. All via a track that showed more technical prowess. Now he’s getting boo’d at concerts. It’s hard to argue he was more impactful.

    7. What a lot of people miss is the fact that MGK made a song (likeable beat, flow, video, etc.) while Em made a straight diss battle-rap style.

      1. Cuz most of them mfuckers dont know art of rap the real culture.. them are only capable of comprehending kindergarten whackass lyrics

    8. That is until my man crush Drake comes back with another chart topping rap song and it’ll beat this video. My boo Drizzy stays beating records while the fake drug dealer Pusha T continues to cut his own tours in half.

    9. Mgk song is better he responded in 1 day it took em what 2 weeks plus mgk was rapping bout facts em was jus rhyming that’s it

      1. Now, I may be in the wrong here, but I’m guessing it’s because Eminem has quite a bit going on in his career (two #1 albums in as many years, a packed world tour, contributing music to a blockbuster movie), while MGK barely even has one. You people are so desperate for beef that you are ready to act as if a guy who packs stadiums across the globe vs. a guy who warms up the crowd for fucking Fall Out Boy is even a contest. It’s like pitting a fucking T-Rex against a mouse lol.

      2. Do continue listening to the Killshot lyrics.. youd realise the meaning and disses are so deep and the research made on most of em words.

      3. Haha. MGK was told that Em will respond to him on his upcoming album, so he actually sat on ‘Rap Devil’ for about 6 months before Em finally released Kamikaze. Then MGK just released the song and people thought Em was slow to respond.

    10. I dont give a fuck dam all dat shit you dick rideing mgk hes my favorite to but dont step to a Lion when your naut a beast 666 999 day of creation ya dum motha fucka stop causing mayham its writen bro no disrspect but how can you betray someone who created my fucken child hood in made your fun to if anything he the reson why white people can walk in hoods in naut get beat the fuck up chill fam chill real talk you dont gotta go this far young god its naut that
Deep 48laws of power is power dont outshine the master of rap cause you cant folks its gonna end your shit for good then its like weres mgk like i dont know bro i dont know that guy

      1. Kids, as this message shows… Do not skip school. Otherwise you’ll end up typing bullshit like Marco just did, all over the web.

      2. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

    11. How ironic…anybody who believes this nonsense you are part of the problem. You really believe that machine that is backing em is gonna let him lose this battle…. All this prove is that they gonna make sure em is gonna win even if he loses

    12. I like Em. A fan since day1. But fake beef for promo is b***h s***t. its wat these fake hoez like Nikki Manji do that can’t sell records.

      1. You the same Warbux who made songs with DZK? If so, you should know how the situation actually is like for MGK. Dude took a massive L. Helps him financially, yeah, but other than that… Not good.
