Eminem was in a generous mood on Thursday (November 1) when he decided to buy out an entire Detroit theatre for a screening of Bodied. The rap behemoth made the announcement on Twitter.
“DETROIT! Come through and get #BODIED!” he wrote. “I bought out the theater, so tickets on me for the Friday + Saturday @BodiedMovie 6:40pm screenings at the AMC 30 in Sterling Heights. First come first serve.”
Directed Joseph Kahn — who directed several of Eminem’s videos, including “Without Me” and “Love the Way You Lie” — Bodied tells the story of a graduate student who immerses himself in the competitive rap battle scene.
According to the Detroit News, Em signed on as executive produce the satire late in the process.
“I always had it in the back of my mind that he was going to come on board at some point,” Kahn said. “But you don’t want to go to Em and ask for money or an endorsement on something on big as battle rap, because everybody asks him for things.
“So I made the movie, showed it to him, and he loved it. Then he decided to come on board, and he helped us put the deal together.”
Bodied stars Calum Worthy, Dumbfoundead, Anthony Michael Hall, Jackie Long, Rory Uphold and Charlamagne Tha God with Paul Rosenberg in the role of producer.
The film is in theaters now and hits YouTube Premium on November 28.

Illa Da Producer hopped on Instagram Live over the weekend to answer a few questions about Eminem. The accomplished beatsmith — who produced cuts on both Revival and Kamikaze — admits his favorite song on Em’s Kamikaze is “Good Guy” (which he crafted) and credits Shady for saving his life.
But, one of the most revealing comments involves the Bodied soundtrack. The battle rap film, which was executive produced by Em, is expected to hit theaters and YouTube Premium next month. According to Illa, the soundtrack arrives on Friday (November 2).
“I ain’t spilling no beans,” he says in the clip. “We’ll see about that Bodied soundtrack. It’s coming out Friday. “You know if I’ve got one on there, it’s gon’ go crazy.”

In an interview with HipHopDX last December, Illa explained how he linked with the Detroit-bred rap behemoth.
“It was through Royce Da 5’9,” he said. “Because Royce Da 5’9 did a remix to the track I did with Phresher. I produced that ‘Wait A Minute’ track with PHresher. So Royce did a remix on it and Em loved his remix and was like, ‘Yo, what is that?’ He said, ‘It’s this nigga PHresher’s song.’ Em’s like, ‘Alright, cool.’
“He found PHresher and found PHresher’s manager and was like, ‘Alright, now that I found PHresher, who did that beat?’ And PHresher’s manager; shoutout my man Jay Andino. He was like, ‘Oh I got you!’ Called me and then plugged me with Paul Rosenberg and Tracy [McNew] from Shady Records and then that’s how it went down.”
Illa also lent his talents to the Kamikaze track “The Ringer,” which yielded plenty of attention due to Em’s relentless bashing of rappers such as Lil Pump, Lil Xan and Lil Yachty.
