Eminem is preparing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Slim Shady LP with the release of an expanded CD/Vinyl edition of the album, which follows the digital version that dropped earlier this year.
The Rap God also announced a limited run of collectable merch featuring Lego figurines and unreleased film strips from photographer Danny Hasting’s album cover shoot.
The Slim Shady LP, Eminem’s debut album on Aftermath Records, was met with enormous acclaim upon its initial release in February 1999.
The project debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and propelled Eminem to the forefront of Hip Hop with songs such as “My Name Is” and the collaborative track with Dr. Dre, “Guilty Conscience.”
The expanded edition, set to release on December 13, will be available in a two-disc CD and triple-vinyl format. It also features deep cuts, a cappella and instrumental versions of tracks, including “Hazardous Youth” and “Greg.”

So this was that secret hype people were throwing around kept telling everyone it was gonna be a new album. Honestly releasing a new album would be a huge risk for him. Seeing Revival was so terrible and Kamikaze was definitely an improvement. But after kamakazi and breaking records with it and the huge MGk diss and all the shots on the album he would have to murder expectations and beyond. If not he would get completely wrote off
I don’t really like Eminem anymore tbh. Is he talented? Of course he is, he’s technically speaking one of the best rappers to ever live, and still is. With that said, his music making skills don’t move me anymore. I find his songs to be boring or even annoying. I don’t like his flow anymore, as it no longer has a unique Em/Masta Ace/Redman sound, and is more just “fast rap”. I’ll always agree Eminem is top 5, and has given us some insanely dope classics, that will never ever be forgotten… But here’s what it is… Music making skills and rapping aren’t the same. If good rapping equated to great music, then every battle rapper and MC would have 5 classic albums… That’s not the case though! Good rapping does not equate to great music! BTW, I’m not hating, so no need for STAN’S to get butthurt. It’s just an opinion, I recognize raw talent, but don’t vibe to his style anymore… Still loving his old music! 1998 to 2003!

I bought the first album and wasn’t impressed. The album was overrated. MM can put words together especially well but that’s it. In my opinion, most of his beats are forgettable. I knew he was destined to be a pop star for the wrong reasons. MM can never make a hip hop record again because it wouldn’t sell as much. It would look like a flop in the pop world. MM doesn’t even rep detroit no more. He was a no show on apollo brown’s dope album. Marshall should retire. Real hip hop artists deserve the spotlight. RIP DETROIT’S FINEST?

I agree with everything here except that Eminem has ever been one of the best technical rappers. He’s good, he’s definitely a technical rapper, but there are way better technical rappers out there and always has been.

Listen everyone has an opinion about eminems music, his old stuff, his new stuff, what everyone doesn’t understand is music is about progression. Em has not only improved his skills and as far as I can see has done it in the face of everyone slagging of his work. All these critics who haven’t got a clue how to write or handle the pressure that they put on him to always write hit after hit. You can’t blame this man for being pissed off. Lol, I’m a huge Eminem fan, but his music has not “progressed.” He has regressed in nearly every possible way. He can’t pick a beat anymore–he can’t even produce one. He can’t write a hook to save his life. His writing as a whole has taken a huge step back, as he over-relies on puns and stringing syllables together at the expense of writing anything substantial or writing a decent story (like he used to do with Stan, Kim and stuff like that). It is fine for artists to progress, change styles, do different things, etc. But that isn’t what Eminem has done, and pretending it is and that everyone just wants to complain is ridiculous.
