E-40 & Richie Rich Reveal What Led To Their Short-Lived Beef

The Bay Area Hip Hop community was concerned when two of its staples — E-40 and Richie Rich — engaged in some social media beef earlier this week.

But to everyone’s surprise (well, aside from Hieroglyphics MC Phesto who said he “wasn’t worried”), the two rap vets sat down over a meal and squashed their issues just a day later.

Forty Water recorded part of their conversation to demonstrate what it looks like when two adults sit down and hash out their differences like civilized people. In the process, he finally shed light on what exactly led to the tension.

“I’m sitting with my boy Richie Rich, man, we go way back, I’m talking about ’88, y’all have no idea bro,” E-40 said in the video. “Two fixtures sitting down, you know what I’m sayin’, talking going way back to 1988, talking about what led to this outburst on my behalf and on his behalf. Like I said, I want to apologize to the streets, ’cause that’s not how I get down. I don’t condone the word ‘snitch.'”

He continued, I gotta be honest with you. He posted a picture with me, exposing me … I said, ‘You a snitch! You trying to expose me to the world about being a Raider ’cause I did a video with a Raiders jacket on. I was like, ‘Man, he really trying to get on me,’ so I was like, ‘Fuck that.’ There was some other shit that led up to it though. Rich posted some stuff that he didn’t mean toward me and I took it like it was toward me, but it was toward a few people.

Richie jumped in, “He said some people were hitting him up like I was banging on him and shit got misconstrued, basically.”

Forty added, “Real men can sit down and work things out. There’s a lot of miscommunications, misunderstandings in our relationship as friends for many years … like I said, I want to apologize to you good brother,” to which Rich replied, “You know the feeling is mutual Earl.”

“I cannot use that word loosely and for that I apologize,” Forty said. “I love you good brother, I really mean that.”

“I love you too, Water,” Rich replied back. “It’s been love, it’s never been nothin’ but that, bro.”

    1. Word. Now gone somewhere and stop letting a simple word carry so much weight. It’s almost like how red and blue colors took so many lives over the years. Substances shouldn’t be allowed to control our behaviors like this man!! Glad to see both brothers now public peace man we need it around the world!

    2. Nobody cares. Put some drake news on this site you lame ass writera. No drake = no viewa. Drake controlls everything in the rap game. He has it by the throat.

      1. It’s not Drake personally who control everything; it’s his ethnic group. I’m not talking about the ethnicity of his father, but his mother, who is not white by the way. I think you get what i mean.

    3. I miss days when Rappers made diss records and shoot outs for 40 minutes and posthumous Album’s. RIP Gangsta Rap

    4. I think its actually Snoop who has the discipline and is given the respect to commandeer potentially damaging situations in music and entertainment in our ethnic community! Especially with our seasoned artists and entertainers. But with that being said our younger class still looks up to him and listens to what he suggests! He has actually been part of both worlds and has fine tuned himself into a leader! We need more like him !

    5. This is on some grown man shit no matter how people will see this. I just wish Biggie and Pac woulda handled their situation in a manner such as this. Be men and talk things out…

    6. I’m glad these two brothers did what they did,
Because at the end of the day they showing the youngstas out here how it really should be done
