Drake has shifted his focus following his high-profile beef with Kendrick Lamar that consumed the Hip Hop world over the last month, stepping out to support his hometown’s latest sports franchise.

On Thursday (May 23), the Women’s National Basketball Association announced plans to expand the league with a new team in Toronto, Canada. Set to begin playing in 2026, it will be the league’s 14th franchise and its first to set up base outside of the United States.

Soon after the news went live, the WNBA shared a clip on social media of Drizzy, Philadelphia 76ers guard Kyle Lowry and Raptors president Masai Ujiri together at what appears to be a gathering in celebration of the expansion.

Drake has been mostly quiet since his feud with Kendrick simmered down over the past few weeks and appears to have backed out of the battle.

Taking to his Instagram Stories in early May, he posted an illustration of a Japanese samurai facing off against a huge cavalry — a nod to the “20 vs. 1” narrative he referenced on his diss song “Push Ups.” Above the picture, he wrote: “Good times. Summer vibes up next.”

The 6 God previously appeared to respond to the outcome of the vicious back-and-forth when he posted a clip from the Netflix series A Man in Full.

In the scene, veteran actor Jeff Daniels’ character says: “I don’t mean this as a criticism. Maybe I do. But when you die, will people notice? When I go, there are gonna be a lot of memories of me by a lot of people, many who hate me. Even so, a person needs to live with vigor. Otherwise, what’s the point?”

The narrative that Drake came out second best in the battle — an opinion shared by many including Joe Budden, Cam’ron and Dame Dash — has only been strengthened by the success of Kendrick Lamar’s diss song “Not Like Us.”

The club-friendly, Mustard-produced track shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this month, handing the Compton rapper his fourth chart-topper and second overall as a lead artist (following 2017’s “HUMBLE.”).

Rubbing salt into his rival’s wound, it has also broken numerous records previously held by Drake, including becoming the quickest song ever to surpass 100 million streams on Spotify, eclipsing Drizzy’s 2018 hit “God’s Plan.”
