Drake released a second Meek Mill diss track, “Back To Back Freestyle” today (July 29) on Apple Music.
“Back to back for the niggas that didn’t get the message / Back to back like I’m on the cover of Lethal Weapon / Back to back like I’m Jordan ’96, ’97 / Very important and very pretentious / When I look back, I might be mad that I gave this attention / But it’s weighing heavy on my conscience,” Drake raps on the track that follows “Charged Up,” his first diss track to Meek Mill after the Philadelphia rapper claimed Drake doesn’t write his own lyrics.
Drake says on “Back to Back” that he does write his own lyrics and he did this song for those who said he didn’t address the criticism enough on the first diss track.
“This for y’all to think that I don’t write enough / They just mad cause I got the midas touch,” he raps.
Drake also takes shots at Meek Mill for his relationship with Nicki Minaj. Meek Mill is the opening act for “The Pinkprint Tour.”
“You love her, then you gotta give the world to her / Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour? / I know that you gotta be a thug for her / This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more,” he says.
Also, the Toronto rapper calls out Meek Mill for coming at him on Twitter.
“Yeah, trigger fingers turn to Twitter fingers / Yeah, you gettin’ bodied by a singin’ nigga / I’m not the type of nigga that’ll type to niggas,” he says.
The cover art for the song is a picture of Toronto Blue Jays‘ player Joe Carter after he hit a homerun to win the 1993 World Series over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Meek Mill has yet to release a song in response to Drake. Funkmaster Flex promised that he would premiere one on his Hot 97 radio show, but the track never appeared.
