Dr. Dre Threatening Sony Lawsuit Over Woman-Punching Michel’le Biopic

On October 15, Lifetime, Sony Pictures and former Ruthless Records singer Michel’le Toussaint are poised the shock the world with the made-for-TV film, Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le.

The biopic chronicles the R&B Divas: Los Angeles cast member’s relationships with both Dr. Dre and Suge Knight throughout the late 80s-to-early-90s as their legend (and notoriety) grew just as big as Hip Hop culture itself.

HipHopDX has already taken in an early screening of the film and much of the focal point is on Michel’le’s physical, verbal and mentally abusive relationship with the creator of The Chronic, and eventually the head of Death Row Records as well. The scenes are shocking and brutal; Dre (played by actor Curtis Hamilton) goes through rage-filled drunken stupors where he attacks his fiancée with closed fists, pulls a gun on her and even tries to sleep with her right after he got married to his current wife, Nicole. During the screening, held in West Hollywood, producer Leslie Greif revealed that the idea for the biopic came after all mentions of Michel’le were omitted from 2015’s box office blockbuster, Straight Outta Compton a.k.a. the N.W.A biopic.

In the present day, Dr. Dre presents himself as a staunch family and businessman with plenty of credibility to his empire, so naturally news of the upcoming film hasn’t exactly garnered any excitement out of him. On the contrary, according to a cease-and-desist letter obtained by TMZ, the 51-year-old Apple Music executive is planning to sue Sony Pictures if the movie airs as planned.

The contents of the letter reference how Michel’le never sought medical treatment or filed a police report during the course of their relationship, that also produced a son named Marcel in 1991. Over the summer, Suge Knight’s legal counsel also threatened similar action as he awaits trial for murder stemming from a hit-and-run incident before the N.W.A film was released.

Last year, a week into Straight Outta Compton‘s run in theaters, outrage ensued over the lack of Dre’s past allegations of domestic violence, prompting him to issue out a public apology to “the women I’ve hurt” but it didn’t specifically name names.

    1. What does this bitch wish to accomplish with this movie? It happened, get over it. Nobody gives a fuck about Michel’le. Next thing Tupac’s weed man is going to make a biopic since he was left out of All Eyez on Me.

      1. I mean, I guess a rational person would be able to see what she is trying to accomplish with the movie… she is trying to get her story out and probably make some money off her story of getting her ass beat like a mutha fucka by dre. I am a fan of dre’s music and what he has done for hip-hop but at the same time, beating bitches up is never cool…. so I don’t blame homegirl for trying to tell her story; even though she is a certified thot; no man needs to be beating bitches and abusing them especially when it’s your girl that you wifed up. That’s just some weak ass cowardly shit. I don’t recall this cat trying to put hands on suge, pac, snoop, eazy, cube etc etc etc but yet he woopin females like dee barnes, michel’le et al. Don’t shit on homegirl for trying to tell her story, because everyone knows this cat was whoppin her ass and they omit that shit from the movie.

        1. “no MAN should be beating BITCHES”.
We would’ve took your speech serious you weren’t contradicting your point.
You sound like both Dr. Dre and Dr. Phil.

      1. He beat suge out of a record label, money, artists and left him broke, stuck in jail without bail money. Let that sink in kid.

    2. Dre’s pissed cuz he wants the world to think he’s like the tough Dre in Straight Outta Compton film. But this Michel’le film will show the real Dre, a coward who thinks he tough for hitting women.

    3. Dre trying hit sony with a lawsuit, might as well let them film ride, no need of spending no extra money on a lawsuit. Dre always been extremely insecure guy. I find it extremely funny he is trying to block this film for telling the truth about him. This is one of my biggest issues with Dre, because of his popularity and wealth he always tries to kill or bury other people side of the story. This is simply karma for what they did to Eazy in straight out compton, they lied on a died man and almost tried to play him bad, after dre left they didn’t show one of Eazy accomplishments, why didn’t they show the 50 million dollar deal he got after dre left, why didn’t they show him going to the White house, Why didnt they show the success he had with Bone on their first album, why didnt they show he was getting paid off Death Row albums. Cube got his ass beat one on one by cold 187 in REAL LIFE but the movie tried to make it look like a brawl

      1. News flash fool,Eazy’s widow,Tomica was an Ex producer on SOC and oversaw the portrayal of Eazy. blame Tomica!! facts are that Dre left Ruthless when it was number one in the westcoast and started Deathrow which knocked off Ruthless in terms of record sales, artists. So, Dre was more successful and bigger than Eazy before he died! Eazy E died before Bone really blew up. They showed the million dollar deal in the movie, he discussed it smoking weed with Tomica in bed and that was why he was in NY and bumped into Cube. GTFOH youngster!

    4. Doc being extremely petty. Yall want to do characters on people they didn’t have a voice in your movie, like suge, Jerry heller, and Eazy E but you don’t want anyone doing something on you huh.

    5. Remember i told you guys before that Dre is a studiogangster and womanbeater. If he was a real man he would say its true and apologize but doenst want negative publicity.
