DJ Paul Addresses Juicy J’s ‘Drug’ Apology

Three 6 Mafia OG DJ Paul was stopped by TMZ at the Los Angeles International Airport where he was asked about Juicy J’s recent comments regarding drug use. While DJ Paul didn’t exactly condone the behavior, he didn’t shun it either.

“People are going to do what they wanna do regardless,” he said. “It’s good he did that and that’s what he felt he needed to do. I kind of do it as well, but I’ve kind of been doing it for years and years. There are old interviews popping up all over the place talking about that. It’s all about moderation. If you can stay off drugs that’s totally, totally the best thing in the world to do.

“You aren’t supposed to do what you hear in the song. I see my favorite actor Robert De Niro killing people on movies all the time, I’m not going to go do it because he’s doing it. It’s all entertainment. Of course when we did it, drugs was lighter. They wasn’t as bad. When we did drugs, you had to go to a real drug deal. These days, anybody can make drugs.” [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

DJ Paul also noted it wouldn’t be authentic to talk about things he didn’t live.

“I can only talk about what I know, what I’ve been through and things that I did,” he added. “What am I supposed to talk about now? Science books? I can only talk about street stuff. That’s all I know. That’s what I come from. I do other things. I do real estate and financial advice, but I’m not going to make a song about financial advising.”

Three 6 Mafia, who has built a career on their “Stay Trippy” movement, often talk about drug use in their music. In the wake of Juice Wrld’s tragic death on December 8, Juicy J took it upon himself to say he was sorry to anyone he influenced to use drugs.

“If I inspired anybody to do drugs I apologize,” he wrote.

    1. ‘Stay Trippy’ was never a Three Six Mafia “movement”. That phrase was birthed during Juicy J’s solo departure around 2011-2012…and it started as “We Trippy Mane” and evolved into ‘Stay Trippy’ which in turn became the title of Juicy’s 1st solo album on a major label.

      1. God thank you man… I was gonna say that but I was sure someone else did it and lo and behold you the one hahaha man these muthafuckas supposed to know that type shit right?!?…

    2. These boys were talking about snawting back in the early 90s
When they were teens before folks thought it was cool

      1. Everybody in Memphis thought it was cool. That’s where they got it from. Still Funky Town to those fools.

    3. It’s amazing that rappers want to take credit for fashion trends, car trends and what brand of alcohol we consume but then they want to act as if anything negative they say should be dismissed because it’s all entertainment. I grew up on hip hop and remember Jay z destroying the 4.0 Range Rover line and Land Rover had to get rid of it. When rappers said they were done with throw backs it evaporated millions that was being made by Mitchell N Ness which still does well but nowhere close to back then. It’s not just rappers, Taylor Swift has an impact on young girls just like any other pop artist. The point is that if you talk about drugs in a cool way and you’re a person with a huge audience, you will put someone on the wrong road. We are all responsible for our own lives but let’s not pretend that mainstream influencers don’t have an impact both good and bad

    4. Man… smh juicy j apologizing is like Kevin hart saying sorry for those 10 year old tweets somebody dug up…smh wtf come on now man… muthafuckas are gonna do what they wanna do regardless… and these niggas is giving into the pressure by apologizing for some shit you meant when you said it… fuck that shit nigga stuck by what you mean and jus say your in a different mind set now…niggas is turning straight bitchmade out here nowadays pull ya skirts down niggas…sheesh…
