Almost a year since inking a joint venture between Mass Appeal and Def Jam, Dave East has announced an August 18 release date for his major label debut, Paranoia: A True Story. He also shared the cover art via Instagram.

Though we’re still waiting on the tracklist, producer credits and guest features, East did recently drop the Chris Brown-assisted single “Perfect.” East’s long-time mentor Nas will serve as executive producer for the album.

Speaking with DX in July, East sprinkled a few tidbits on what to expect from the album.

“It’s dropping in July. I can’t give you the exact time,” he said. “It’s like 10 joints — all original, of course. It’s my first release with Def Jam.”

During the interview, he mentioned Jeezy making the cut.

“Yeah, I got features on there. You trying to get all the exclusives,” he continued with a laugh. “I’ll tell you one. Young Jeezy. I got Jeezy on there. I got the uncle on there with me. I got the freedom over there to do me. I’m in a position where I got a lot of other things going on besides the music, so they really in my corner with everything else. I think I made a good decision signing with them.”

      1. In the United States, the Recording Industry Association of America, the organization that declares releases “gold” or “platinum” based on numbers of sales, defines an EP as containing three to five songs or under 30 minutes. The Recording Academy’s rules for Grammy Awards state that any release with five or more different songs and a running time of over 15 minutes is considered an album, with no mention of EPs.
In other words this is not an ep and is a debut album.

        1. Debut album was Kairi Chanel in 2016 you do some research it’s his first major debut..
          Major meaning big label

    1. It’s his official major label debut but it’s not his first official album.. Kairi Chanel is his debut it came Out in 2016

      1. What does him being Muslim have to do with this? There are a lot of rappers who are born Muslim or have converted.

        1. Converted? Sad for them. How would such a good religion treat them were they to leave it and convert to another one?

      2. Lmfao @ Muslim! You can’t drink, smoke, promote thug life whenever you want and be Muslim! Hypocritical BS! And BTW, f**k the Muslim faith anyway. Gives females ZERO respect and promotes nothing but VIOLENCE!

    2. I was excited about the album but it falls short of Karir. It feels like a harlem > J.Cole, DJ Khaled (with the I love you/ kid skit) Kendrick Lamar rendition.

    3. I really love this and he’s with my fave Chris Brown is simply “Perrrrrfect”! A blessing to my soul! Team Breezy 4 life!!

    4. Real talk bro. This one too trash compare to his previous drops. #Deveeastfansince2012 I know how dope he is compare to this wacky album. Even the single he dropped as of recent @no back and forth” better than em joints he got here

    5. Dave East’s music has gotten lazy. Either he lost his hunger and focus for making dope music or maybe this is just the best he can be. He started out dope early in his career and now seems to reaching a bit. I don’t like this project at all. He better be careful because he hasn’t made a legit hit since Forbes List. Is Dave a one hit wonder?
